There is no true way to define the word artist. One could argue that an artist is someone who creates a beautiful masterpiece. They might assert that an artist has prestige due to the deeper meaning and ultimate success of his work. Ultimately though, one finds that art is something found within rather than produced for the world to see.
Artists are people who see the world with eyes that yearn to either replicate it, change it, or escape it. Artists don't think the same way other people do because artist are always in some way creating. Artists avoid or exploit cliches and strive to move beyond the norm.
In truth, anyone can be an artist. Ironically, everyone already is in someway. In time though, many will walk away from this path in order to pursue other goals, other means of creation and expression.
Those who hold the pencils firmly in hand, sweat beading down their furrowed brows will be left to struggle with their craft. The shaking hand that furiously manipulates the mouse fights with the ghost in the machine to make it realize his goal. Twitching fingers spasm violently as they struggle to pluck the strings that will send their message to the world.
Art is everywhere and in everyone, you just have to know where to look.
Maybe you should try thinking like an artist...

Hello my friend, I just read your post and it sounds like you are contradicting your self at times, like when you say that artists see things with different eyes (true), some people choose not to take that path (true), "We are all artists in some way" (maybe). You see this where you lose me, because if some have decided "not" to take the artiest path, then they should no longer be considered artist.
Nice blog though, very optimistic, good job =)
Well I was trying to say that we're all born with the ability to be good artist, it's just some people choose not to be.
They'll always have that potential, they just choose to ignore it sometimes.
So essentially, everyone "could be" an artist, it's just whether they choose to be or not.
You can also lose "the eyes", that's why I say artists have different eyes.
